Special Issue Information

The International Conference on Biomass (Biomass 2025) (https://scisynopsisconferences.com/biomass/) will be held September 25-26, 2025, at the NH Vienna Airport Conference Center, Vienna, Austria. Focused on the critical role of biomass in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing energy security, promoting sustainable agriculture, and advancing the renewable energy transition, this conference will unite global leaders, researchers, and industry advocates to share groundbreaking insights and foster international collaboration.

With the biomass market projected to grow by 6-7% annually through 2030, driven by global decarbonization goals and technological innovation, this event is timely. Austria, recognized for its pioneering environmental policies and commitment to renewable energy, provides the perfect backdrop to explore scalable solutions for biomass in electricity, biofuels, biochemicals, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

Papers presented at Biomass 2025, as well as high-quality research covering the conference themes, are invited for submission to a dedicated Topic Collection in the Journal Green Chemical Technology. Submissions are particularly encouraged in the following preferential areas:
  • Biomass Conversion Technologies: Thermochemical Conversion (Pyrolysis, Gasification), Hydrothermal Processing, Biological Conversion (Anaerobic Digestion, Fermentation)
  • Bioenergy & Biofuels: Biomass Power & Thermal, Biogas & Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), Biomethane Production, Biofuels (incl. Sustainable Aviation Fuel - SAF), Boiler Technology
  • Biobased Products & Biorefineries: Bio-based Chemicals and Polymers, Biomass Usage in Biorefineries
  • Sustainable Systems: Sustainable Biomass Production, Municipal & Industrial Waste Valorization, Sustainable Resources, Biomass Integration
