Aging is associated with profound remodeling of the immune system, affecting both innate and adaptive immune responses. Key features include immunosenescence, altered hematopoietic and immune cell lineage commitment, impaired immune memory, reduced host defense, and persistent chronic inflammation, commonly referred to as inflammaging. These immune alterations contribute to the development and progression of age-associated disorders, including increased susceptibility to infection, cancer, autoimmune disease, metabolic dysfunction, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegeneration. This Special Issue will focus on the immunological mechanisms that link aging, chronic inflammation, immune cell function, and lineage choice. We welcome original research articles, reviews, and perspectives addressing how aging influences hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell fate, myeloid and lymphoid lineage bias, innate immune reprogramming, antigen presentation, T-cell exhaustion, B-cell dysfunction, macrophage and dendritic cell activity, cytokine and chemokine networks, immune metabolism, tissue-resident immune cell responses, and senescent cell–immune interactions. Studies identifying biomarkers of inflammaging or exploring therapeutic strategies to restore immune balance and limit chronic inflammation are also encouraged. By bringing together mechanistic, translational, and systems-level immunology studies, this Special Issue aims to advance understanding of immune aging
